2007 Portland Go Tournament

November 3-4, 2007
Lewis & Clark College
Portland, Oregon

Five rounds of intense AGA-rated Go! This is a handicap tournament, including everyone from absolute beginners to some of the strongest players on the west coast. Prizes (merchandise, lessons, or cash) will be awarded for:

To preregister, contact Peter Drake (drake@lclark.edu) with your NAME, RANK, and (if you have one) AGA number.

COST: $30, $20 if you preregister. If you are not an AGA members, there is also a $10 one-tournament membership fee. Players 18 and under, as well as Lewis & Clark students, faculty, and staff, get in free.

LODGING: The nearby Hilton Garden Inn in Lake Oswego is offering a special rate: $89 per room for both Friday and Saturday nights. They offer a shuttle to the college on request. For more info, call (503) 684-8900 or 1-877-STAY-HGI and thell them you're with the Portland Go Tournament. Rooms must be reserved by October 16.

TRANSPORTATION: Campus parking is free on the weekend. Those coming from downtown are welcome to ride the college's free "Pioneer Express" shuttle:

FOOD: We'll provide tea and cookies. There is a coffee shop (Maggie's) open on campus. The Fields Dining Room is also open for a buffet lunch. Info on both can be found here:

Note that Maggie's doesn't open until 10:00 AM on the weekend, so if you need an infusion of caffeine before your first round, bring something along.

PRECISE LOCATION: We will once again be in Smith Hall, which is a room in Albany Quandrangle (which is, confusingly enough, a building). A campus map is here:

We'll try to do a better job with signage this year; the bozos who put up the signs last year have been given a stern glare.
